In November last year I competed in the Highland Fling Half Mountain Bike Race (55km). The combination of not having done a huge amount of mountain biking as most of my training is on a road bike and being unsure what the course was like meant I was a bundle of nerves when I woke up. I was surprised how large the event was with the starting line packed. The race started out on gravel fire trails and progressed through grass farmland before turning into some awesome single track that kept my concentration high to the end. I had a great result and came in 3rd in the open female section. It was a fun event, great weather, and I can highly recommend this race to others who are keen to give a well organised mountain bike race a crack. Thanks to SquareOne Physio for providing my flash race kit. This year I am hoping to compete in the Highland fling full which is 100km..this could require a serious post race massage!
