Last month one of our patients ran the London marathon to raise money for Amnesty International. We were happy to contribute to his cause and threw in some free treatments to get his body to the start line. Well done Andrew! This is what he had to say…
A belated note to say thank you very much for looking after me prior to my departure for London.
The body (and importantly the calf muscle held firm) without the slightest concern during the race. Of course the legs and in particular the knees were well tired after I crossed the line. Nothing that some ice couldn’t fix. Perhaps surprisingly I was pretty much back to normal three days later and then had a decent sightseeing run two days after that, a quick trot past Buckingham Palace, through Green park and Hyde Park.
So now my thoughts are towards the Sydney Marathon in September ….
You may be interested to know that our Australian team of 10 runners raised over $110,000 AUD an outstanding result that was head and shoulders above the local effort.
The weather on the day was absolutely perfect. The support from the crowd was overwhelming but also most useful in the later stages of the race when things got tough.
Whilst aiming for 3hrs 45 min I was very pleased to finish under the 4 hour mark with a time of 3 hrs 56 min 57 sec.
Here is proof that I made it !!
