ONERO – Bone density program

Physio supervised GLA:D exercise for hip and knee arthritis rehabilitation and joint health at Balgowlah clinic

Join the internationally recognised ONERO™ program, helping people with osteopenia and osteoporosis improve bone density, strength, and confidence to stay active for life.

What is the ONERO™ Program?

ONERO™ is an evidence-based exercise program specifically designed for individuals with low bone density, osteopenia, or osteoporosis. It focuses on progressive, supervised strength and impact training shown in clinical trials to improve bone health and reduce fracture risk.

ONERO™ is endorsed by organisations such as Healthy Bones Australia and is delivered at only a small number of accredited clinics nationwide — including SquareOne Physiotherapy.

All ONERO™ sessions at SquareOne are delivered by physiotherapists trained through the ONERO™ Academy, with expertise in:

  • Interpreting DEXA bone density scans
  • Safely progressing heavy strength loads
  • Managing osteoporosis and fracture risk
  • Delivering evidence-based bone-loading exercise

Transform Your Life Today

whO IS the ONERO SUITABLE FOR?

The ONERO™ program is suitable for:

  • People diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis
  • Peri- and post-menopausal women
  • Active midlife adults wanting to protect long-term bone health
  • Older adults who want to stay strong, independent, and confident

All participants are assessed individually to ensure ONERO™ is appropriate and safe for their specific health and bone profile.

What results can participants expect?

Participants commonly report:

  • Improved bone mineral density at the spine and hips
  • Significant gains in whole-body strength
  • Better posture, balance, and confidence
  • Reduced fear of fracture and movement
  • High long-term adherence and satisfaction

ONERO™ training consists of:

An Initial Assessment

A 45-minute face-to-face physiotherapy consultation is required before starting the ONERO™ program. This assessment includes:

  • Review of your medical history and relevant DEXA scan results
  • Measurement of baseline strength, movement quality, and functional capacity
  • Safety screening to confirm suitability for ONERO™ and an introduction to SquareOne’s gym environment

This GAP-free, or 50% discounted, assessment ensures the program is appropriate, individualised, and safe for your bone health needs.

In-Clinic Classes

Participants then register for our term-based ONERO™ program, delivered in small, bespoke supervised groups (maximum 4 participants).

  • Classes are led by ONERO™-trained physiotherapists
  • Sessions focus on progressive strength and impact loading
  • Attendance is twice per week, as consistency is essential to achieve meaningful and lasting change.

While classes run in 8 to 10-week terms, a minimum engagement of 12 weeks in a year is required to support measurable improvements in strength and function.

The Program:

ONERO™ is intentionally engineered as a long-term intervention over 12 months rather than a short-term exercise class, to help achieve:

  • Measurable improvements in bone mineral density
  • Significant gains in strength and physical capacity
  • A meaningful reduction in osteoporotic fracture risk

The program progresses gradually and safely, with exercises such as squats, deadlifts, pressing movements, and controlled impact loading under close supervision.

Progress Checks:

To ensure ongoing safety and progression, regular progress checks are built into the ONERO™ program.

  • Conducted after every term via a private GAP-free, or 50% discounted, physiotherapy appointment
  • Functional strength and movement capacity are reassessed
  • Goals are reviewed and the program refined as needed

These check-ins support long-term success, confidence, and sustainable bone health improvements.
